Jimmy Aranda was born on October 21, 1977. He is an up and coming winemaker and the owner of Dionisio Winery. Born in Houston, Texas, raised in Galena Park, Texas, he is husband to Clarice and father of three: Isaias, Myka and Mia. Jimmy currently resides in Pearland, Texas where he plans to launch the location of a new winery. In his fourth year of commercial business, among his accomplishments, at the age of thirty-seven years old, he has earned one silver medal and two bronze medals from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and one bronze medal from the San Antonio Stock and Rodeo. His success was hard earned and achieved as a result of a strong desire to rise up to the top and out of poverty. Being a child to a single mom, experiencing hardships, and with no formal education nor training in winemaking, Jimmy displays an enormous amount of determination constantly proving that nothing will stop him. His inner drive and vision, support and encouragement from his wife and the previous knowledge possessed, has led him straight up the path to entrepreneurial victory. Jimmy is quickly becoming a force to be reckon with. At one point, Jimmy worked hard in the corporate world. It was stressful on both himself and to his family life. He knew something had to change, and quickly. After several attempts of turning his brilliant ideas into businesses and seeing each one fail, he was determined to find a way to provide financially for his family and successfully for himself. Finally, he found that success in wine making! He walked away from a stressful career and put forth all his efforts into making this new wine venture a reality, not only as a means of financial security but to save his struggling family life. Dionisio Winery birthed itself in Jimmy’s garage sometime in 2009 as a way to impress his wife! He told her he could make something that she not only liked to drink, but would instead love to drink and boast about with all their family and friends. Recipe after recipe, and other unsuccessful savors, Jimmy did not give up. “I’m not a quitter.” says Aranda. “Failure only opens new doors for success!” One day, after receiving positive feedback on one recipe, Jimmy furthered his education on fermenting fruit wines and has now been highly recognized and praised for his fruit infused wines. Currently, Dionisio Winery is located snugly eight walking blocks down from the new Dynamo stadium, high-rise apartments, cozy eateries, breweries and bars in East Downtown (EaDo) Houston. As triumphs continued, Jimmy became the proud owner and naturally head wine- maker of a small premium winery in East Downtown Houston. Named Dionisio Winery, he took his unique style and made a very contemporary look. “We have a simple but elegant decor that gives a very comfortable feeling, right down to the cushy high-heel shoe chairs.” says Jimmy’s wife Clarice. The winery does not have the traditional oak barrels, but mobile barrels that allow for more storage and can be moved to host small events in the winery. Dionisio Winery was named in honor of Jimmy’s late grandfather, Dionisio Aranda. Jimmy spent his childhood summers and holidays in Mexico, with his grandfather, until his parents divorced. As an adult he returned to Mexico to spend quality time with his grandfather until he passed in 2010. Jimmy’s grandfather played a significant role in Jimmy’s life teaching him about taking care of his family no matter what the costs. Jimmy states that his success is a direct result of the man his grandfather showed him to be. Jimmy’s story of success continues even today. Being a Native Texan, producing wine right here in Texas, among the Go Texan members and part of the Texas Grape Growers Association of Texas, it is NO wonder why Dionisio Winery is a big fan of the great state. Dionisio Winery continues to specialize in the combination of fruit and grape infused wines. They have expanded into red and white wines, and plans to continue its progress into making innovations in the wine industry. "Our semi-sweet fruit wines are the perfect combination of blended fruit and grape. Made right here on premises, we put our Texas twist on all our wines. Great quality wines don't have to come from Napa Valley. We focus on quality, not quantity and we are successful making great quality wines right here in Texas.” Says Aranda. Jimmy and his wife Clarice are first generation wine makers, family owed and proud.
